Why Do I Keep Pulling the Same Tarot Card?

It's a common thing to notice. You pull the Seven of Swords on Monday, again on Thursday, and by the end of the month it feels like the deck is trying to tell you something. Here's how to think about it, in the order I'd check things.
1. Check the shuffle
If one card keeps surfacing, the boring explanation is that it's stuck. Cards that were next to each other when you last put the deck down tend to stay next to each other if you shuffle lightly. Shuffle longer, riffle, and cut the deck in different places. If the card still shows up, move on to the next step.
2. Look at what you keep asking
Most repeats come from repeated questions. If you ask about the same friend, the same job, the same worry, you'll get answers in the same neighbourhood, and the same card is a fair summary of that neighbourhood. The deck isn't repeating itself. Your question is.
3. Remember that repeats happen by chance too
With 78 cards, any single card shows up about once in every 78 single draws. Pull cards often and you will see repeats, and you'll notice them more because they're striking. That doesn't make them meaningless, it just means a repeat isn't proof of fate.
4. If it still feels like a message, work with it
- Write down the date, your question, and what was going on that day, each time the card appears.
- Ask a different kind of question. If you always ask "what will happen", try "what am I avoiding" or "what do I need to hear".
- Read the card for what it asks you to do, not what it predicts. Recurring cards are best treated as a theme to reflect on.
- If the card is hard, like The Tower or Death, remember that most readers read them as change and endings, not disasters.
After a month of notes you'll usually see the pattern, and it's often more about you than about the card. That's the useful part.
Keep a record of your spreads by entering them in the reader.
