Good Tarot Questions to Ask (and What to Avoid)
By the Sussa team · October 21, 2026 · 5 min read

A tarot reading is only as clear as the question behind it. If the question is vague, the cards will sound vague. A small change in how you ask often changes the whole reading.
What makes a good question
- It's about you and what you can do, not about what someone else will do.
- It's open: "what", "how", "where" instead of "will" or "is".
- It has a clear subject, such as one job, one relationship, one decision.
- It's something you actually want to hear the answer to.
Examples that work
- Work: "How should I approach my job search?" or "What's getting in the way of my promotion?"
- Love: "What do I need to understand about this relationship?" or "What am I not saying?"
- Decisions: "What should I consider before moving?" or "What does each option ask of me?"
- General: "What do I need to know about this week?" or "What should I let go of?"
Questions to skip
- "Will he text me back?" You can't act on it, and the answer will just make you anxious. Ask what you want to do about it.
- Anything about health, legal or money decisions where you need a professional. Tarot is for reflection.
- The same question again and again. See why the same card keeps coming up.
Tip: Write the question at the top of a page before you draw. After the reading, check whether the cards actually answered it.
Type your question and enter your cards to read each position.
